❝Oh? Ya saw me before? I see a lot of people, so forgive me if we have met and I just don’t remember. I am not human. I just look like it. Still a Pokemon, but in disguise. Ruby? Your name rings a bell. Can’t quite put my finger on it.❞
He said, looking down at the ground, his finger tapping gently on his chin. Maybe they meet in the future? Or maybe they have met but he just doesn’t remember.
“… right, I guess you probably wouldn’t remember. But yeah, we did meet. You actually traveled with me for awhile. And saved a lot of people I care about.” Ruby was a little upset that Celebi ddin’t remember, but that was okay. He knew that him remembering was a long shot.
“Hold on a sec…” Emerald muttered, typing furiously in the keyboard until a 3D model of the aforementioned pokemon appeared, t-posed so that all of it’s features could be noticed.
“Celebi is known as the Onion Fairy Pokemon. One instance of it’s appearance happened with three unknown trainers, though one trainer is suspected to be Brock, the rock-type gym leader from Kanto. That’s strange considering the event supposedly occurred in Hoenn. Any attempts to get Brock to talk about this event have proven to be… unhelpful. He refused to have anyone interview him about it, period. We… don’t know what that could mean for the event either taking place or not.” he rambled, looking over the monitor at Ruby.
Ruby sort of zoned out after about half way through. The rest didn’t really concern him all that much, and it wasn’t until Emerald’s eyes
looked back at him did he even think of giving any kind of proper
reaction.
“So it’s been seen by others before, huh? Even here in Hoenn… Well I’m sure it’s doing okay. The Pokémon was a great help to me. I hope to see it again so I can give it a proper thanks.”
“What? No! Nothing went wrong with someone else. Am I not allowed to do something nice every once in awhile? I just thought maybe you’d like the gifts is all. Would you rather I take them back then?” Wow, you do something nice for a girl you like and the next thing you know she thinks that you struck out with some other girl. What other girl would he even be going after? That must have been some random thought she had.
“I guess you won’t want the dinner either or the other gift I had planned for you… Man, after so much planning and fishing.”
Plopping on the floor right in front of him, she held a curious gaze. “Talkin’ to yourself again?” He had to stop doing that, it was just plain weird and just asking to be eavesdropped, honestly. “What’cha on about?”
“Ah!” Ruby shouted as Sapphire suddenly appeared before him. It sent him straight to his feet since he was so deep in thought. Jeez, this girl just loved to make him freak out in the most rude ways. You never just do that to someone who is so lost in though. Especially when they are thinking about said person.
Calming down, the male sighed and took a seat back where he was. “Yeesh… Warn me next time before you just walk up on me like that… And to answer your question, I was thinking about… something. Certainly had nothing to do with you. Nope. Not at all. Not gonna tell you.” Now he was just being suspicious.
Emerald nodded, confirming his initial thought process. “You encountered Celebi, the Onion Fairy pokemon.” the blond said in an assertive tone. “For what you had given me before, it would have either been Celebi or Dialga, which is a Steel/Dragon type legendary pokemon who’s special move is “Roar of TIme”.”
Knowing that there was actual information on the Pokémon he encountered made Ruby surprised. The Pokédex couldn’t find anything about it before, but maybe now the had enough data that now it could. Now would be a good time to find out anything else he could.
“Celebi… So that’s the Pokémon. Is there any other information about it?” Ruby was becoming more interested in this now than he was before. He had a reason to be, since it was that Pokémon that saved so many lives of important people.
“— Hmm, indeed——entering contests is a great way to go up against other coordinators and studying their styles to get an idea for your own. Of course, staying true to your own is quite important to remember! Oh? Do you think you’re ready to take on such a distinct type of contest? Since it does differ from Hoenn’s… If you believe that you can do it, then I have faith in you.”
More than the gym leader would let on, he was proud, in every sense of the word. His voice rivaled the calm of the waters in Sootopolis, not once faltering and going with the flow. If Ruby was able to read the expression on his face well enough, it was glowing with warmth.
Seeing his face glow with such warmth made the young coordinator smile wider with such pride. It was great to know that he could bring such an expression to the other. Hopefully he would be able to improve and impress his master day after day.
"That’s exactly what I was thinking. I need to keep practicing and honing my own skills if I want to be the best one around. But, now that you brought it up, I need to make sure my Pokémon will be ready for the dancing portion and that I have everything I need for the visual portion. I will make sure our moves are spot on for the judges to love.” A determined spark was seen in the young boy’s eyes, ready to take on any challenge ahead of him. It was going to be exciting when he took them all on.
“—Ah, before I forget. Is it true all of the contests only take place in one city?” That would be one major difference between here and Sinnoh. Only one building to hold all of the contests sure would make things much more convieniant for him though.
Ah. …So this kiddo came from Johto, huh? “…I see.” he responded. It’s kind of too bad that Silver can’t really say the same about himself. He did miss home… and he did go back to seek his father. Just to know who it was… and to see if he’d have anything waiting for him.. but it ended in naught. And now? Silver would just be training himself to be as strong as possible in order to stop his father’s ambitions.
“Yeah. I am surprised none of you actually heard about me before. I made quite a name for myself when I was in Johto, taking on contests whenever I could. But they weren’t as big as they are in Hoenn so that could also be why…” Ruby took much pride in his coordinator abilities, and it really made him sound like he was trying to be some kind of big-shot. Best thing to do is just agree with him when he is like this. Unless you want to get into some kind of argument.
“Aren’t contests just the best though?” she exclamed happily. “I’m glad to meet another coordinator! Everyone seems to have switched to being battle oriented after one contest season. Glad to see someone sticking with it!”
“They are! And don’t worry, contests will always have a special place for me. It’s not one of those things that I can just give up and walk away. Unless there is something more important I need to take care of, of course.” It had been so long since he got to enjoy such idle chat with a stranger about contests. It was actually kind of nice!
“Hmm… If you can give me the color the pokemon was, that’ll help me narrow my search. ‘Cause there’s a couple pokemon that we have in the database that tend to cause slips in time.” Emerald said nonchalantly, hopping off his desk once again and going behind his desk to tap wildly on the keyboard.
“Let’s see… From what I can remember, it was green and pretty small.” Ruby hummed as he continued to think of any other helpful information about the Pokémon. “I think it had blue eyes… and had fairy-like wings. Is that enough information or should I try to remember something else?”
