      Ruby is known for being a lover of contests, taking all of them on and coming out on top in the Hoenn region, but is rather skilled in the art of battle. He does not show this very often ever since an incident when he was younger. Himself and Sapphire were playing together when suddenly a wold Salamance attacked. Using the Pokémon given to him by his father, he easily defeated the beast but let it slip away, which in the end ruined his father’s chances of being a gym leader for five years. By the end of this, Ruby decided to suppress his strength to be less brutal.

      It wasn’t until the events that took place in the Hoenn arc that he realized there is more then just being beautiful on the outside, and soon began to fight with the others against Team Aqua and Team Magma. Now he will battle alongside others, though still doesn’t like it when he or his Pokémon get dirty.

      The young coordinator is rather skilled in other fields such as photography and sewing and knitting. And at times he is known to wear glasses for being shortsighted.
